WOODTURNING WORKSHOP

In the 1930's a lot of small wood-turning workshops were opened in Sant Pere de Torelló (Catalonia) by workers in nearby Torelló textile turneries, fed up with the precarious job conditions they were suffering.

I visited one of the last companies in activity ‘Industrias del Ajedrez’ founded in 1935. They only use local boxwood or olive wood to produce magic and high-end chess pieces.
